The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

Please join us in reading The Paris Wife by Paula McLain for our suggested book club monthly reading.

We will be reviewing The Paris Wife along with our monthly book club discussions questions for December 31st, 2016.

From a New York Times Bestseller Paula McLain, comes a story of a love affair between Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley.

USA Today says of The Paris Wife:

“Powerful and devastating… McLain pulls off a delicate balancing act, making the macho Hemingway of myth a complex and sympathetic figure.”

And the Boston Globe says of The Paris Wife:

“McLain has brought Hadley to life in a novel that begins in a rush of early love… A moving portrait of a woman slighted by history, a woman whose… story needed to be told.”

This book looks like a moving book and I am looking forward to reading about the love story between Ernest Hemingway and his wife!

    1. Hi Arthur!
Well it’s set in France so it’s the right location for romance.
I don’t know much about Ernest Hemingway and now I am curious to find out more about him.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I visited Earnest Hemingway’s home in Key West, Florida. I’m curious to know why she’s called The Paris Wife. DId he have more than one? Or maybe he met her there? Admittedly, I don’t know much about Earnest Hemingway’s history. But now I’m intrigued…can’t wait to read your review!

    1. Hi Teresa!
I didn’t know that Hemingway lived in Key West, Florida.
I haven’t actually read his works or in fact know much about him, so this will be interesting to find out a little back history.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Hi Lonna!
It is apropos that we are reading this when I will be visiting Paris; the city of romance.
I think it will be very enjoyable…

I can’t wait to have some delicious croissant and a cafe au lait! 🙂

        1. Hi Lonna.
I had a great time in Paris. It’s nice just to hang out there (I’ve been numerous times) and enjoy the city. No need to sight see as I’ve done it before.
Oh yeah the croissants were delicious!
