Liebster Award 2017

What is the Liebster Award?

For those that are not familiar with the Liebster Award, it is an online award that bloggers give to other bloggers. The award is to recognize the blogger’s work. From what I can gather in my research, it started in 2011 and continues to spread in the online blogging community, recognizing up and coming blogs online.

Once you get nominated, you are to answer the 11 questions the blogger has asked and then you nominate up to 11 new blogs that you like and ask them 11 questions.

What are the rules for the Liebster Award?

  • Thank and link to the blogger who nominated you.
  • Create a post on your blog showing the logo for the Liebster Award.
  • Answer the 11 questions for the blogger that nominated you.
  • Provide rules and and instructions for accepting the award.

Liebster Award for Bloggers

MY ANSWERS:

1. What is your favourite genre?
I love to read most genres, but love science fiction and fantasy the most. Having said that, I tend to read quite a bit of historical fiction.

2. Who is your favourite villain?
The Emperor in Star Wars. He’s so cloak and dagger…

3. If you could be a character from a book, who would it be and why?
Lyra Belacqua from The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. I really loved the parallel universe that Pullman created and would want to experience the adventures Lyra has.

4. Who is your favourite author?
That’s a hard one to answer. I can’t name one author but the author that I have read the most is John Sandford. I’ve read his complete Prey series (including his latest Golden Prey).

5. What are you currently reading? And are you liking it so far?
I am reading Beartown by Fredrick Backman and Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark Sullivan. I am liking Beneath a Scarlet Sky so far. It’s a page turner.

6. Which genre do you absolutely hate?
I don’t read horror (I get too scared) and I haven’t read erotica but think that would bore me to tears. I read Fifty Shades of Grey and it was terrible!

7. How do you organize your books on your bookshelf?
I am unorganized so the books are not organized well. Books by same author are together and fiction and non fiction have different shelves.

8. What are your bookish pet peeves?
I don’t like any of the book pages to have a fold. If you need to book mark, please don’t bend the pages, use a book mark!

9. Which do you prefer: Hardcover, Paperback or ebook?
I love hardcover to read but find e-books really convenient.

10. Have you ever bought a book without reading the description?
I haven’t bought a book without reading the description but have read books at random just by the looking at the book cover.

11. Where is your favourite place to read?
I love to curl up and read in my big comfy chair.

  1. Thanks so much for the nomination! I can see from your reviews that you prefer sci-fi and fantasy genres as well. But historical fiction works well with you too! I think it is incredibly difficult to choose one favourite author as well, so I never do xD I agree – I don’t like the edges of my books folded either!

  2. Ahhh…You’re are so, so sweet, Dinh. Thank you for the nomination. <3 It's no secret, I love fantasy. Glad we can share that in common.

  3. Thank you so much for the nomination, Dinh! It is such a lovely thing to have book bloggers try and boost each other up! I’ll try and make time to answer the questions you have put together.

And lol, erotica! I remember saying there no way I will be reading those, but I seem to have been sent a few ARCs my way…I tried reading one or two of them, and I am still amused at how I had to pause and make a ‘wtf’ face at no one in particular because of some passages! It’s definitely not for me, even if I’ve tried! πŸ˜€

    1. Hi Gemma!
I read Fifty Shades of Grey, which is erotic romance genre and it was utterly boring. It was just repetitive and I just wanted to get to the end to see what happens. It’s not even fun otherwise I would read it.

I look forward to reading your responses. πŸ™‚

  4. Congrats Arlene! How awesome to be nominated for this award. Really enjoyed reading your answers and I loved the questions you chose for your nominees. Wanted to put my hand up and shout out the answer to no. 7: Dr. Seuss “Oh the Places You’ll Go”! Just adore it. Read it for motivation for myself somedays. πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Lauren!

I love Dr. Seuss as well. I read his books to my girls practically everyday…

  5. Please no-one, not anywhere on this planet, or any other planet you may occupy, don’t ever nominate me for any awards. I ain’t got nuffink ter put ’em in.

    1. Hi Andre!
The award is an online award so you don’t have to put it anywhere.

It’s just for recognition of good work!

      Thanks for stopping by. πŸ™‚

  6. Congrats! I love that we have these awards going around where we get to show our appreciation for other bloggers. Erotica is definitely not my thing either. I’m not sure I could get through Fifty Shades so I applaud you for doing so. I have a similar pet peeve, but it’s usually reserved for library books that have been dog eared. I hate that so much! Loved reading your answers and thanks for the nomination!

    1. Oooh, ooooh, and oooooh wiv 5 Os in it, Alicia – do ya really love a bit of nonsense – you’ll love My Mate Bert ‘coz he’s my imaginary friend and he’s full of really bright sparks idea.

I really have to catch up on my tag posts (and my reviews… and pretty much everything tbh!)
