1. I think it all sounded very plausible. I’m not sure how much of it actually was, i’ll never know, but it was written with such realistic detail.
2. For me, the main character made the book. He had a wicked sense of humour and was a very likeable chap.

I agree with you and think Andy Weir did a good job in making life on Mars sound believable. The way he put all the minute details made it more realistic in my opinion.
I loved the story line and the book was definitely enhanced by the main character Mark Watney. I liked that Watney was like your average person but an astronaut. You can relate to him easily.
And having a sense of humor in such dire situations won over my heart. I was rooting for him all through the book!

I agree. The desolation & geography were aptly described for Mars.
The beginning is perfect . The end perfect believable.
